The visitors were awarded a penalty late in the first half, which was dispatched by Bailey Kempster, who proved a constant threat throughout the afternoon. 

Two goals in three second-half minutes put the away side firmly in control, with both finishes coming at the back post as the Swans were unable to clear their lines. Skipper Lewis Morgan netted first before Kempster bagged his second of the afternoon. 

Slimbridge fought back however, with Olly Sully converting a penalty just before the hour mark before a cross was turned into their own net by a Willand defender to bring the Swans back within a goal with 10 minutes remaining. However, it was the visitors who prevailed, confirming their place in the next round. 

The Swans can hold their heads up though. It was the first time that the club had entered at the Preliminary Round, and went on to reach the Second Round Qualifying. 

Up next for the first team is a trip to Worcester Raiders on Tuesday evening as their league campaign resumes.

As for the Slimbridge U18s, their competitive season started this month with a 3-1 FA Youth Cup Preliminary Round win over Brislington U18s, and a 1-1 draw at Cinderford Town in their opening league game of the season. 

Up next, they face Tuffley Rovers U18 in the next round of the FA Youth Cup. This tie is set to be played at Thornhill Park on Thursday evening (17th September), with kick off 19:30.
