Match report: Slimbridge AFC 3-3 Willand Rovers
Sunday 18th October 2026

Slimbridge AFC were forced to settle for a point at Thornhill Park on Saturday afternoon after a dramatic 3-3 draw with Willand Rovers in the Southern League Division One South.

Olly Sully opened the scoring for the Swans in the first half, before Willand turned the game around with two goals in quick succession.

Hadyn Evans levelled the scores shortly after the restart, before Sully grabbed his second of the afternoon in the 89th minute to put Slimbridge ahead.

However, there was one final twist as Willand snatched a late equaliser with the last kick of the game to ensure the points were shared.

Jack Smith and Joe Stokes combined well in the opening stages, with the latter firing over the bar after some neat build-up play. Callum Godfrey was also called into action, producing an excellent low save to keep out a Willand effort.

The Swans took the lead in the 22nd minute through Sully. Smith found the forward, who showed great skill to turn away from his defender before powering his shot into the net.

However, the visitors responded with two goals in five minutes. Bailey Kempster brought Willand level in the 31st minute, before Joel Jackson struck a superb effort to turn the game around.

Smith almost restored parity before the break after a winding run, but his effort was blocked by a Willand defender as the Swans went into half-time trailing 2-1.

Slimbridge needed just two minutes of the second half to draw level. Stokes delivered a dangerous corner into the box, allowing Evans to finish and make it 2-2.

The Swans pushed for a winner as the half progressed, with Smith striking the post in the 78th minute. Three minutes later, Lynden delivered a ball into a dangerous area, but Smith's touch was gathered by the Willand goalkeeper.

With time almost up, Sully stepped up once again in the 89th minute. Showing strength inside the box, the forward turned his marker before burying his finish to put the Swans ahead.

But the drama was not over. Deep into stoppage time, Kempster found the net for a second time, bending a free-kick in to deny Slimbridge all three points. A goal that also resulted in Evans receiving a second yellow card.

Up next, the Swans are back at Thornhill Park as they host Hungerford Town Wednesday night (21st) in the league, with kick off 19:45.

For the U18s, they travel to take on Cirencester U18 in the league on Tuesday night.
