Slimbridge 3-7 Fairford Town
Sunday 25th January 2026
After an opening fifteen minutes when it seemed that they were going to put the visitors to the sword, an astonishingly surreal next 75 saw Fairford clinically demolish the Swans and record a thoroughly deserved massive victory. The Swans' Management Team will have plenty to work with this week ahead of their trip to bottom of the table Hallen next Saturday.

The only consolation for Slimbridge was that all the clubs around them also dropped points, so in terms of the League table, there were no big moves, and it was another game completed towards the end of the season.

Slimbridge came out of the blocks early and with Shiyak Sutherland looking dangerous down the Swans' right flank, and Jack W Smith saw two good early chances - one blocked, one cleared off the line.

The first goal came on ten minutes - Joe Stokes' chip into the Fairford box was dropped by Keeper Connor Johns, and Ollie Barnes pounced to put the home side ahead.

Four minutes later it was two - another quick break saw Jack W Smith convert past Johns to double the lead and set up what looked at the time to be a forthcoming landslide.

In the 17th minute though, Fairford caught a break and pulled a goal back, ultimately never losing their grip on the game from that point. Tommy Ouldridge looped a Free Kick into the Slimbridge box, and, aided by the wind, it eluded everyone to end up in the corner of the net.

The momentum of the game changed completely - seven minutes later, Harrison Edwards went on a mazy run and slid the ball past Steve Sarkodie for the equaliser.

With only 33 minutes played, the visitors took the lead, when a dangerous cross in the Slimbridge box fell to Harrison, and he notched his second of the game.

In the second minute of stoppage time, Harrison completed his hat trick, converting another cross and leaving the Swans shell shocked as they headed into the break.

Any hopes the Swans had of a comeback were extinguished six minutes into the second period, when Brad Hooper's tap in sent Fairford into dreamland.

The dismissal of Fairford's Ashton Wallace on the hour for a stamp on Toby Soule did nothing to slow down the visitors, and another quick break four minutes later saw Elliott Haffenden record number six.

Slimbridge pulled a late consolation back on 81 minutes, when Aaron Evans-Harriot converted a Sutherland cross, but Fairford had the last word - after Charlie Mathews was penalised for a foul in the Slimbridge box on Haffenden,  Wayne Nderimani netted the resulting penalty, leaving Slimbridge with plenty to ponder in the forthcoming week.

Team: Sarkodie, Mara (Evans-Harriot 55), Haswell (Evans 55 replaced by Kang 76), Soule, Hitchings, Ponting (Mathews 55), Stokes, Blackie (Bell 55), Barnes, Jack W Smith, Sutherland

Goals: Barnes 10, Jack W Smith 14, Evans-Harriot 81
