The hosts took the lead just after the half hour mark to lead going into the break, and two further strikes in the 70th and 90th minutes saw the scoreline reflect the performances of the two sides.

Slimbridge made the better start with Shiyak Sutherland and Theo Clayson looking dangerous down the Swans' left flank, but Wallingford soon got into the game and created their own chances, with Aiden Higgs and Caelan Issac both having efforts for the hosts which came to nothing.

Slimbridge had a good effort from Hadyn Evans blocked on 18 minutes before the game started to swing away from the Swans.

Ty Hamilton was off target before Kyle Bestley's effort from outside the box slipped through Olly Phillips' hands on 32 minutes to give the home side the lead.

Hamilton had another effort off target before the half, but the break saw the Swans behind after a half when they never really got into any sort of rhythm.

Slimbridge made a better stat to the second period - after Will Hawes and Sutherland had combined well to force a corner, Hawes was denied in a goalmouth scramble by Wallingford Keeper Henry Woodcock four minutes into the second period.

As Slimbridge pressed, Sutherland and Clayson saw their combination foiled by Woodcock's interception, before Sutherland saw his effort blocked, and then Jacob Rodgers' saw his cross create a scramble in the Wallingford box which was cleared.

On 68 minutes, Ty Hamilton made a run down the Wallingford right flank and was left far too much space to beat Phillips and double the home side's lead.

Wallingford pressed for a third, with Aiden Higgs being off target before a third goal as the game moved into stoppage time sealed the victory - Ryan Sheppard was allowed too much time in the Slimbridge box to turn and shoot and his effort beat Phillips to finish the game on a disappointing note for the Swans.

Slimbridge return to League action tomorrow night (20th August, 7.45pm), when they entertain SC Inkberrow in the first ever encounter between the two sides at Thornhill Park.
