Swans progress in Challenge Trophy
Tuesday 16th January 2024
A professional performance on the night helped Slimbridge progress into the next round of the GFA Challenge Trophy with a 3-0 win over Moreton Rangers.
The opening goal came from George Neill who calmly slotted an effort into the top corner from the edge of the penalty area.
The Swans doubled their lead before half time as Edji Mbunga smashed his effort past the Moreton keeper and into the roof of the net.
In the second half both sides looked threatening but Neill’s second goal of the game made sure of the win as Charlie Hitchings’ ball over the top of the defence was brought down and put past the Moreton number one.
Up next for the Swans is a trip to the Sixways Stadium as we face Worcester Raiders in a league clash on Saturday, January 20.
