Winchester game abandoned

This evening's Southern League South game against Winchester was abandoned early in the second half by Referee Graham Pearce after a failure in one of the Thornhill Park floodlights, which was followed by a blaze at the base of the light which needed to be attended by local firefighters.
Winchester had by far the best of the early exchanges, and took the lead in the ninth minute, when Greg Peel slotted home a cross at the far post, but as the Swans got back into the game, Will Hawes equalised on 25 minutes.
The second half was less than ten minutes when old when the floodlight failure occurred, and Referee Pearce had no hesitation leading the players off the field while the situation was dealt with.
A date for the replayed game will be announced in due course.
