Slimbridge picked up their second league win of the season this afternoon at Thornhill Park, coming from behind to beat Hallen with two goals in two second half minutes from Substitute Joe Stokes.
The Swans trailed at the break, but, ten minutes after coming on, Stokes turned the game upside down and secured the three points for the home side.
Much of the game was very scrappy and disjointed, with neither side really settling into any kind of rhythm, although the visitors had the best of the early exchanges - the two best early chances went to Hallen's Elliot Gardner, but his first effort was saved by Steve Sarkodie, and he was off target ofter having been playing in by Lewis Saunders.
An early injury to Ryan Ponting saw him replaced by Bogdan Mara.
It took until the half hour mark for the Swans to have their first decent effort, when Toby Soule's volley from a corner drifted just over, and a couple of minutes later, Joe Shutt saw his good effort deflected off a defender and then well save by Hallen Keeper Harry Thomas-Barker.
There was a bizarre incident on 35 minutes when Thomas-Barker clattered Casey Collins as he gathered the ball. After consulting with his linesman, Referee James Cairns not only denied Slimbridge the penalty they though they were due, but then, in a clear case of mistaken identity, managed to book Joey Shutt for an alleged foul during the incident, despite Shutt being nowhere near the action.
To add insult to injury, Hallen then broke from the resulting free kick, Sarkodie allowed the resulting cross to slide underneath him, and Jack Jones was on hand to tap home and put the visitors ahead.
The second half continued much in the shape of the first, but as tensions mounted, the tackling became more robust and ten minutes in, Shutt was subbed as he appeared in danger of receiving a second yellow card in addition to his ghost one from the first half.
On 62 minutes, Joe Stokes entered the fray, and his first contribution was an immediate free kick which he drilled into the Hallen wall.
Ten minutes later though, Stokes took a header from Jack W Smith, turned on a dime and drilled the ball past Thomas-Barker to level the scores up.
A minute later, Jack W Smith was clattered on the Swans left flank, and Stokes' resulting free kick pinged across the Hallen box and ended up in the net, possibly off a Hallen defender, but no-one was going to take the goal away from Stokes.
The rest of game resumed it's stop-start rhythm, and Slimbridge were comfortably able to run out the clock to claim another precious victory.
