The Swans Manager has started pre-season training for his side, after the last two Southern League campaigns were halted due the pandemic, but Driver-Dickerson doesn’t feel that the club have lost momentum, and is looking forward to the new campaign.
‘We’re all buzzing to be back’, he said. ‘We had a few new faces as well as some old ones at training on Thursday, and everyone involved is mad keen to get going again.
We have some great pre-season games lined up, two games against sides from the Hellenic Premier League and four against Southern League clubs. It’s a great mixture of different footballing styles for us to play against, and, of course, we have the added local interest of derby games against Fairford and Brimscombe, which always provide a different challenge.’
The Swans open their pre-season on Friday, 9th July, when they travel to Fairford Town (7.45pm), before hosting Redditch United at Thornhill Park on Monday 12th July (7.45pm).
On Monday 19th July, the Swans go to Brimscombe and Thrupp (7.45pm), before another short road trip sees them down in Bristol at Lodge Road to take on Yate Town on July 22nd (7.45pm).
The Swans then welcome Taunton Town to Thornhill Park on Tuesday 27th July (7.45pm), before concluding their fixtures with a home clash with Weston-Super-Mare on Tuesday 3rd August (7.45pm).
If the Swans are drawn out of the hat to enter the FA Cup at the Extra Preliminary round, their season will start on Saturday 7th August, if they are drawn as a bye straight into the Preliminary Round, they will commence the season with their first Southern League fixture on Saturday August 14th.
The Swans will know their FA Cup fate when the fixtures are released by the FA on July 9th.
